María José Martínez

Economist, with a concentration in Business and Finance. She is a graduate of New York University (NYU) in New York City where she earned her BA in Economics and Political Science. She later earned an MBA from Columbia University also in New York City. María José Martínez has extensive experience in the financial sector, having served as Director of Institutional Banking for Citibank in the Dominican Republic and as Vice President of Citibank's group dedicated to advising the Public Sector for Latin America, based in New York. In the Public Sector, María José has served as a Program Officer for the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago de Chile, as well as a Program Manager at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development. Currently, as Deputy Minister of Public Credit, she has led innovative transactions with a proactive liability management strategy, aiming to improve sovereign debt sustainability.
